※学校における歴史教育のナゾの一つに、「幕府によるキリスト教禁教」がある。 例えば幕府軍1,900名、キリシタン側27,000名という日本最大の宗教戦争「島原の乱」は、常に幕府対キリシタン的視点から解説される傾向があるが、この当時のプロテスタント国家オランダはすでに明確に幕府支援を打ち出しており、この戦いは幕府による「キリスト教弾圧」の側面を強調し過ぎ、本質的な部分でカトリック対プロテスタントの代理戦争的な性格が強かったという歴史的事実をほとんど教えていない。これも不思議である。
